The difference between restaurants in Sweden and USA
In today’s episode, I am talking about some of the many differences when it comes to restaurant culture in my two countries Sweden and the US. Some examples are how the serving staff is acting, and how much should you leave in gratitude.
I married into a restaurant family, and to this day we go out for lunch every day as a part of my sister-in-law’s socialization since she has a traumatic brain injury. But there were quite a few things that were hard for me to get used to when I first moved here. One example is how irritated I was when the servers kept on coming up to my table and asking if I needed anything. This is something that very seldom happens in Sweden, and today I will talk about why that is.
Planning to visit Sweden?
I am planning to do an episode later this spring about things that tourists in Sweden should know before they visit. If you have any specific questions or thoughts I would love to hear from you. You can send me an e-mail to pixelpia@aswedishfika.com
You can also use that e-mail to send me any topic ideas and suggestions about any topic you would be interested in.
Fredagsmys and Lördagsgodis
These are two very common concepts in Sweden, and if translated it means Friday cozy and Saturday candy. In my next episode, I will talk about these two concepts. If that sounds like something that interests you I suggest that you subscribe to my podcast.
