My first impressions

Where I left from

In my next episode, I will talk about my first impressions of my new home USA. But to really understand what I experienced I think you need some background of where I started.
I was living in a small town in the south of Sweden called Staffanstorp. At the time of my leaving it had around 12,000 people living there. It was a real rural town with acres of farmland surrounding and at that point, the highest buildings in the center of town were 2 stories.

Where I landed

My very first steps on US soil were in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. Quite a difference from little Staffanstorp. Stressed is one way to describe how I first felt, but after the long flight I was rather tired, and my husband to be picked me up and drow us home to our small home in New Jersey, called Gloucester township, which had a population of around 60,000. Big compared to where I came from but still not as overwhelming.

My first impressions

I will not disclose too much of my first impressions here, you have to wait until Monday November 1st, but let me just say that I was both impressed, underwhelmed, and overwhelmed at the same time. From the tiniest little thing as going to the grocery store, to the gigantic leap of dealing with red-tape, and everything in between.
An even today after 18 years in this country there are things that still surprise me in comparison with Sweden, both good and bad.
So if you are curious and want to hear about my first impressions make sure to tune in on Monday, or watch it on YouTube, also on Monday.
