My next podcast episode

Every Tuesday I will write a bit about my upcoming podcast episode, today being the first post of the kind. Here I will talk shortly about what topic I have chosen and why.
But before I get into today’s post I just want to announce a few changes in my scheduling. The audio-only version of A Swedish Fika will go public on Monday mornings at 8 AM CST, for the video version on YouTube I am still trying different publishing times, at the moment I have episode #2 set for Monday, September 13, at 3 PM CST.

Sweden is not Switzerland

As I arrived in the US in 2003 I was surprised how many people, when first meeting them, that was confused about where Sweden was located. And I was even more surprised when they often thought that Sweden was Switzerland. Even my own American family had a hard time with this.
Today I am more used to the fact that Americans’ strong suit is not geography, and I see this as an opportunity to educate about Sweden, so this was something I really wanted to address in my podcast. But just to state the fact that the two countries are not one and the same would not make for a very long podcast. So what else could I include?

Comparing the two countries

I decided to do some comparisons between the two countries, what is similar and what is different, and the similarities are very few but there are a lot of differences. I also spend a little time talking about what each country is famous for before I give you a lot of fun facts about things that are Swedish that might surprise you, and that can be useful fun facts if you ever want to impress a Swede.

For the future

My list of topics for future episodes is very long, but since this is a podcast for you and not for me I would love your input. If you have any specific aspect of Sweden, Swedes, or anything else you think would fit into my podcast please leave a comment beneath this post.
