The hardest choice so far

This is surprisingly the hardest decision so far when it comes to starting and developing a new podcast, choosing the correct music. Should I go with something typical Scandinavian, something calm, or something uplifting?
The thought I have right now is to find a piece of music that I can use for every episode in the intro and outro. For the episode itself, I can vary the music depending on the topic when it comes to segue and background music but I am struggling with finding the right music that can be identifying my podcast for my listeners.

Setting the mood

It is important to set the mood for my podcast, and that is the conflict in my mind right now. I know that I speak in a very typical Swedish tone, rather slow and unenergetic. Even though growing up I was considered as very vocal by Swedish standards, for my American friends the epithet for me is quiet.
This is my conflicting thoughts at the moment;

  • choose something with very obvious Scandinavian, that would very much follow the tempo of my speech and set a very low energy mood for the podcast
  • choose something more energetic and fun filled to start off a bit more uplifting to counterpoint to the lower energy in my voice.
  • Find some combination of the two, and have a balance

Trial and Error

The only thing I can do to really find my answer is to test booth options. At this moment I will take advantage of my friends, and use both types of music, have them listen, and give me their honest opinion. I am so lucky to have friends that I can trust and that can give me advice in the matter.
Now I need to put the last touches on my two first episodes, that is intro, outro, and music. I will continue trying different songs and I will figure this out.
