Trying to keep my promises, and this week I actually did (so far). It is Tuesday and I am preparing you all for next week’s episode of A Swedish Fika. This time I am going to get onto a somewhat controversial topic, one that is filled with stereotypes and in my eyes misinformation about us Swedes, but that is very common around the world.
Sweden & Sex
If there ever was a topic/stereotype that I personally have a problem with this is it! And it is also a stereotype that conflicts with other stereotypes, especially stereotypes about Swedish women. On one hand, the world seems to think that all Swedish women are “easy” and promiscuous, and at the same time, we have a reputation of being hard-core feminists that are controlling and in charge.
The truth is that both are probably correct depending on your point of view. I will try to explain some of the sources of the stereotype that Swedes (read Swedish women) are promiscuous. I will also explain parts of the legalities in Sweden that can be contributing factors to this stereotype, and how they have been misinterpreted by the world. (Yes, I am very biased)
But it is true that in Sweden there is in general a more relaxed and non-threatening view when it comes to sexuality and the human body. We have for example no swearwords that are directly based on sex like the f-word over here, even though many Swedes now id using the F-bomb. Nudity is more accepted, but we do not run naked in the streets or flaunt our bodies in your face, we are still very respectful of personal space.

Happening on the web site
Right now I am trying to get into the habit of posting regularly, which has been a problem of mine and I am doing my best to really give you all that you deserve.
I am still struggling with finding the right plug-ins to make this site more interactive, so if anyone has any good ideas in general, or specific plug-ins for WordPress I would love to hear from you. I would also be interested in what type of interaction you would like to see? A discussion forum? A Q&A section? More polls? Anything that you would like to see when it comes to interactive content.
Happening with the podcast
The podcast will take a Christmas break, so there will be only eight more episodes of season #1. The last episode will come out on December 13th, and then I will take a break until January 2nd. During that break, I will evaluate the video part of the podcast, and make a decision whether I will continue making videos alongside the audio-only episodes.
I will also try to prepare for some guests on the podcast, and right now I am thinking of a couple of options and would like to hear your opinions.
